TWIN TURBO ???

has anybody ever tried to do a twin turbo set up un a d16? will it make too much boost, or is this a stupid question? if it would work i would like to try it. if my money doesn't dissappear too fast.

man if you have ANY money concerns at all(like a normal human being) then dont even consider this.

I bet it'll cost you 5x more than a normal turbo setup.

stuff like this is pointless except for two reasons,
FULL ON funnycar style dragster, or for show.

could this be not-cost effective? why?

yeah thats what i'm trying to say,
cuz everything will have to be custom fabricated.

the only twinturbo car I can recall seeing recently(that didnt come TT stock) was a wrx, and even then it was obvious that they did it mainly cuz the had $$ up the wazoo

hmmmm never thought about doing that.
If you get 2 similar turbo's cheap they must be pretty small though, it could be done pretty cheap, but ya a lot of work.
Now you got me thinking maybe I'll do that on my sunny If I get it. Cause here I can tiny turbo's really cheap.

Re:TWIN TURBO ???

The engine displacement is to small do drive two turbos eficciently, and if you think on how much it would cost you to set it up with two small turbos ecc, it would come out much cheeper for one good sigle setup.

If you are talking about supercharger and turbo then you are in business, it will work well but will still cost.

Do a surch for this car Lancia Delta S4. It is a 1.8 twin cam 16V 4x4 with turbo and supercharge. In the 80 this car made over 850 Bhp.

Re:TWIN TURBO ???

you can twin turbo a d16, but like most people said.. whats the point. the whole point of running two turbos is the application you want HAS TO HAVE A LOT OF BOOST. AND you can't wait forever for a massive turbine to spool.
you could put two little turbos, on your d16, and run 8psi. and it would be slighty faster maybe, because of the less time it takes the compressors to make 8psi.

eg
one turbo takes (insert amount of time/rpm/whatever here) to make 8psi
two turbos takes half that amount of time to make 8psi, cause there is two compressors working instead of one.

Re:TWIN TURBO ???

wrong, mass of 4 wheels and 2 shafts is much more than 1 shaft and 2 larger wheels.. plus a big single will have 2x the exhaust gas velocity hitting it than the small ones... twin turbo 4cyl.... lmao ::)

Re:TWIN TURBO ???

no, because the size of the wheels and shafts are much smaller ....thats why twin setups always use tiny turbos
