Twin sequential turbo setup 2x8 valves

Hi

I'm new here. I was just wondering something because I've seen something on the net that brought me an idea.

I have some experiance in building turbo setups on 4 cylinder peugeot engines.

I see some automotive devolepments in sequential turbocharhing. I was wondering why a lot of these setups are very complicated. Allthough it might not be that relevant for performance engines I thought about a new setup when I came across an Peugeot s16 cilinderhead.

These cilinderheads have a normal 4 cilinder 16v setup only the exhaust valves have one exhaust-hole per valve. So on the exhaust side there are 8 holes.

Wouldn't it be possible to use 1 valve of each cilinder to feed a small turbo and the other 1 to feed a bigger one. Then use a very big wastegate on the small turbo which feeds the bigger one sequentiallly. Perhaps combine the compressor sides aswell.

It seems to me all would balance out nicely.

Is this ever done?

seems like a waste of time and money. modern turbos have come a long way from the 80's and 90's when turbo lag was an issue. now a days turbo lag is so minimal a single turbo will suffice. this is assuming you have a good matched turbo to the engine your using it on.
