Turbos! Turbo101, 102, and 103...for the noobs and not so noobs ;)

I figured since I've been seeing alot of "what size turbo for such and such application" type of questions, I'd post this up.

First link is turbo101...basic knowledge for the person who knows little about turbo's and how they function...http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...o_tech101.html

Second link is turbo102...a little more in depth, gives information on what a/r numbers mean and such, effects of designs of manifolds on turbos and boosted motors, etc....
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...o_tech102.html

Third link is turbo103...teaches you how to read compressor maps and estimate pressure ratio and mass flow for your boosted (or soon to be) engine, and how to plot them on the map...
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...o_tech103.html

All 3 links are very interesting to read, whether your a noob or just want a refresher. Hope this helps to solve some of the confusion and mystery for some people...enjoy ;)

LOL...nice. Unfortunately we seem to have an awful lot of noobs lately, and it does get repetative answering the same questions over and over again. And last time I checked the FAQ (which was a while ago though :l) there wasn't anything on reading compressor maps. If it was updated, then my bad. :P

I've read those pages before.
It's good information for everyone to check out.

Yeah...you're right. :P I spent 3 days straight on H-T answering some of the most bullshit questions ever dreamt up...can't take it anymore.

Oh, and I just checked through the FAQ's...there are links to compressor map reading, so my apologies. I think the last time I looked through the FAQ's was when they were first compiled :P

I haven't looked too much at the FAQ, but then again I haven't posted any fagariffic threads about what is what. Thank you for this thread, I printed the links off earlier. :)
