Default Turboing a Tercel

Hello,
I'm crazy enough to turbo my '92 tercel. I've done all my research and looked through all of the projects on this site. The problem is that the 3EE engine in the tercel is fairly crappy and can only take 6~7psi of boost. I'm planning on running 5~6, how do I modify the wastegate to release earlier than when it was designed? I picked up a TD05 which I believe has 8-10psi stock...

A friend had a Tercel. It shot a rod through the block (dont ask.... ) and all I could think when I saw it was, wow, these are the size of a pencil. Smaller than a d-series even.....

Good luck on your project,
Dont get too boost happy......

Other than my 'spare 86 accord' I also had a spare 92 Tercel I drove around. It would do good burnouts because of the little tires

Turbo would be funny in a tercel. Would be fast too.

In the june 2001 issue of Import Tuner there is a chick with a turboed Tercel in it.
Looks very nice though and it's an automatic (chicks).
They used a Mitsu TD05-14B turbo and they say it runs un 11 psi of boost and she got a single shot of ZEX on it to...that bitch is crazy....the motor has to be rebuild though to take that much, cause they are really weak.

She had a 5EFE, an engine that is far superior to mine. This engine I have is so bad even the whole tercel community looks down upon it...

You know, Toyota has solved your problem already. Just import and drop in a 4E-FTE. Or better yet, Use the head and turbo setup on a 5E bottom end. But then again, just dropping in the 4E-FTE would surpass both of your current HP and torque figures.

If money was not an issue I would've done that a long time ago. The thing is a 4efte costs $1750 USD (2800 CDN), I can turbo my 3E for 400CDN. With the knowledge I gain from this I will be able to use it for future engines/cars.
