If it's a GT, your friend has a 5SFE, which is a 2.2 liter DOHC. The auto trannies hold up just fine with boost, but they rob a lot of power. There's a guy on Celicatech who only made like 150 hp on 8 psi on the auto tranny, where another made almost 210 on 8 psi through a manual.

This will make your life a lot easier -

Source a turbo manifold, turbo and downpipe from either an MR2 turbo or a Celica Alltrac (5th gen only). Make sure it's the twin scroll entry, and not the single. Also source the oil pan, oil and water line fittings, and 2 bar map sensor from the same cars. Then get some DSM 450's, an intercooler, some charge piping, an MR2 BOV (Which is really damn good) or a DSM one. After that, you can choose if you want to run an SAFC/MSD BTM or SMT6. The SMT6 kicks *** in every way, so I would recommend going that way.

Have fun.

Hey!

I am working on a setup for my camry. And here is the list I have thus far. It also has the 5SFE.

3SGTE Turbo manifold
3SGTE CT-26 Turbo off of a MR-2 turbo.
2JZGE Injectors

For management, I would look into Megasqirt. If you cannot put it together, there are people that can for a little fee.

Hope this helps,

Edit: get a tranny cooler.

And check out toyotanation.com forums. There is tons of information on 5SFE turboing.

you also need to relocate the oil filter if you use a manifold from an alltrac.. i think that cost 150 something
