Default Turbo ZC Project

My question is I want to either post the block or sleave it. Posting seems to be the cheaper route. Which is the better option, and what kind of sleeves will work best in a zc. I'm not that concerned about the cost as I have more than enough money to sink into this. I want to do it right the first time. This will be a daily driver, so I want it to be reliable under 12-15 psi of boost. I was looking at building it at a low cr of like 8.4, but I read Jeffs zc build it has a higher cr, in the 9's. I was under the impression from what I have read that a lower cr is better for boost. If I am wrong correct me. I plan on getting a Zdyne SECU Gold to run the car on so that I can tune it properly. I also will be getting a new map as well as injectors. Any recommendations will be greatly accepted on these items. I was planning on a T25 turbo like Jeffs first crx, but with a FMIC. If there is anything I am missing please let me know.

You're going to sleeve a block to run a T25? I would think about a larger turbo.

The compression should be lowered to run more boost, but since you are planning on sleeving the block I wouldn't worry about it. If you drop the compression too much you will lose low end power whcih as you know in a Honda is already pretty low. Stick with the stock compression if you plan on building the motor.

for onlt 12-15 psi leave the stock cr but if your gonna sleeve it i would think about a bigger turbo like a t3/t4

Don't Change compression, Don't Sleeve/Pin. Use that money to buy a better turbo and tune, which will give u more reliability in the long run

I say keep the T25. This is for a daily driver afterall. Even with low compression the streetability/low end power will be great due to the quick spool up of the small turbo. ...why do you think so many factory turbo cars have such low compression and small turbos?

Even if he's running a small turbo their are still benefits to reinforcing the block, I say go all out and build a 'bulletproof' street engine, not something that he'll have to replace every year, or be afraid to turn up the boost every once in while.

One of the MR2 guys is running a OE T25 he got off ebay on his 1600cc toyota, with 15psi he's making 215 HP at the wheels, which equates to around 250-260HP at the crank, and he's not finished tweaking the setup. He uses it for street/autocross, sounds like a good setup to me. A honda breathes better and will make more power.

That's why factory turboed cars don't have as much power as your own built turbo car.

A T3 would give you the same power at a lower boost level and would be more efficient than the T25 at a higher boost level. More CFM..more power.
And sleeving for a T25?? well the T25 won't give you that much power to go sleeve the block.

So I should go T3 for the turbo. What would the spool time on that be. I am actually thinking of building the kit on my sstock d16 in case I screw it up and blow the motor is that one and not the one I will swap into it. A kit for a d16 would work the same on a zc won't it since the difference in the motor is sohc and dohc?

Yeah the kit will work on either.
I would go for a big T3, but a AR 42/48 T3 would be great for daily driving.... spools up pretty fast and has enough to take you to redline.

you say money is no object. Are you capable of tuning a custom ECU. Id say t3 w/ 60/63 housings on a d series t3 manifold w/ exxternal WG. tialgate? deltagate? whichever using a nice BOV not a DSM. Custom charge pipes and downpipe. 450cc injectors w/ boost tight seal and a zdyne ecu.

what $1500-$2000 for all that? as long as u do the install.
