TURBO YZ
I have been talking to a guy lately about buying a turbo from him,and have seen the turbo and checked for shaft play. The only thing is that it isnt a turbo brand i have ever heard of, the side of the compressor housing says Turbo YZ. I just want to make sure that this isnt some POS turbo. Anybody got any suggestions

Re: TURBO YZ
I also Disagree with the bitching against ss autochrome or any other company...
Simply because the guys are honest, they don'T deserve this.
Ok, SS might have distributed cheapo turbos, an item that you should never cut corners short on, but they remain a good company, offerring the best prices on OBX and Xspower stuff that is of an acceptable quality level for many other performance related accessories.
But the ZY turbo does suck. big time. And the problems with these turbos go far beyond the simple shaft play.
-The turbine housing cracks severely enough to make it fall apart completely. (heck, even the garrett turbos crack but ZY is much worst!!)
-The compressor housing is made of two parts that are GLUED together!! and yes, no surprise, it does fall apart with catastrophic results!
-I dissasembled many ZY before I decided to refuse working on them. Shaft, bearings, thrust collar and washers all show signs of overheating. Just as if the tolerances are out of wack everywhere in these turbos.
-I Never succeeded to balance one properly. No idea why.
-Are they really cheap? (considering that after only a few weeks of use you're caught with a failed turbo that you can't get rid off and you have to purchase and re install a real turbo anyways?)
One good point about the ZY turbo though: They look nice and shiny
