Not sure of what your asking but where would you put the washers? I've never heard of it making it louder by putting more washers...

I hope you know that XS RFL BOVstands for XS "REAL FUCKEN LOUD" Blow Off Valve. Sorry I'm not much help...

Re:turbo Xs RFL

The washers need to be added if you run more boost. If it's working how it is and not leaking, you probably don't need to add any more washers. If you do, it won't "blow-off".

Re:turbo Xs RFL

The more psi you are pushing, the louder the bov will be, that is the basic, if you want it to be super loud, turn up your boost to 659506606psi. If not, there isn't really much you can do.

Re:turbo Xs RFL

where is the placement of your BOV? Is it close to your intake manifold or is closer down to the intercooler/turbo?

The further away from the IM the louder it will also be.

Re:turbo Xs RFL

i bought an imitation turbo xs rfl on ebay and it came lubed up on the inside where the release piston slides up and down with some thick sticky grease that would let it move freely and my BOV would flutter when the car reached normal operating temperature. I cleaned the thick grease off the piston and BOV cylinder and lubed it with chain lube spray, kinda like wd40 only a lil thicker. Now no fluttering ;D check if yours has that thick grease, it'll make it harder on the BOV to open and will make it flutter or quieter. Or if you want it realy loud, install a small dc powered megaphone infront of the BOV and have it wired to the ignition so it amplifies the BOV sound. ;D

the more boost you run, the more washers you should put in...8psi 0-1 washers 30psi 6 washers

the washers are just for added weight, makes it harder to open up, when your at 30psi or some ---- and u got no washers, that things gonna shoot up really fast, u dont want it to fly outta there...and if ur running little boost, and u put too many in...it wont open up and will create problems for you

a bov will not sound any different with the washers in or not...its just makes the piston inside heavier a bit...

the bov makes is at its loudest at highest rpms/when your at maximum boost...if you shift at like 4k rpm it wont be as loud, but dont get me wrong the rfl is still really ------ loud

thanks guys for the info and help.. ill look into that grease situation, but i took mine apart and it was just a brass slide/valve no oil or grease maby ill give it a shot of D-40

Re:turbo Xs RFL

why would you want a ------- loud ass bov?? thats just retarded.. makes it look like you just went for the ------- noise.. boost more then get it louder.. at least make it go as fast as it sounds..

Re:turbo Xs RFL

it is fast,
its a D16a6 with a IHI RHB5 turbo,
96-00 DX manifold with cat cut off and plate welded on and tapped and studded for clean look and turbo mounting, custom downpipe 2" custom charge piping, sabb viggen intercooler 28x8x3", Apex-i SAFC, GReddy timer, Pro form chip, 300 cc injectors, ported throttle body , ported and polished head, AcCel wires.

it has lots of mods and its quick but i was just wondering if i can make the BOV louder, thats all. it was just a ------- question..

Huh? Not exactly. The washers put more tension on the spring, which keeps it closed longer so it won't open under a small amount of pressure(boost).

Also, nothing is going to "fly out of there". ???

Re:turbo Xs RFL

you dont need to worry about making it louder...this is the loudest BOV I have ever heard. My friend's GSR at 8psi has a rediculous blow off even when he shifts at 3 or 4k rpms.

It's not like you're running a T4 on a chyrsler big block with your setup. There will be a limit on what you can do with your motor.

IMO the 1g DSM BOV is more then capable of handling whatever you want it to do for a nice price. There are mods to make it quick releasing and louder.

It's your money, do what u want. Whatever company u buy it from I'm sure will be happy to send u a test sample of the BOV in action.
