turbo working?

i am new, sorry ..... i really cant tell if my turbo is working, i can get the boost psi up to 8, bov does blow off, but it just doesn't feel like the turbo is working? at 5000rpms, the vtec kicks in and my car flies. i have a d16z6 vtec and turbo rebuilt with low compression vitara pistons, the turbo is a t/4 xs power setup with external tial wastegate. also i can't get my boost gauage to go into the positive boost psi in first gear? any help woud be great. this is my fist turbo so please help.

Re: turbo working?

sounds like youre problem is just that youre using a big turbo and are running low compression....bump the boost up. what management are you using?

So the turbo doesn't work but vtec kicks in and then your car flies??? lol

If your boost gauge reads 8 psi, then your turbo is probably working :1

But it's ssac so maybe not the greatest.

yea larger turbo = Lag.. no boost in first is good, beter traction bla bla bla.. um are you geting a reading on the boos gauge, sounds like you are in secound, so i say its good.. what managment are you useing, and i fyou loweredd the compression you will get even more lag..
