turbo turbine ....too big?for ls motor?lagg?

stock ls motor
i found out my turbo is a 54trim oe .63 AR stage 3!
the turbo rebuilders told me that stage 3 wheel is gonna lag like ----..like 5k fullboost becuase of the stage 3....usally .63 stage one is fine
hes telling me i should go with a .48 AR

boost will be at around 3!

my goals are <250 so i would like boost to be around 3.......

for the smaller wheel its gonna cost
$100+my 63 turbine+turbine housting
for new GARRETT parts

should i do it?
i just dont wanna loost traction due to it spooling too fast

IMHO: don't do it. I say put the turbo on and boost the hell out of it.

a 60/63 spooled up by 4.5K on my stock D16, i think you'll be just fine, hes just trying to make some money

If you want midrange, I suggest a 60 trim t3 .63/.60. If you want more top end, stick with what you have. Personally, I don't paticularly care for hybrids on LS motors pushing less than 300whp. B-series vtec engines can get away with using them a bit more as they rev higher. After 300whp you basically need a hybrid as t3 wheels only push a max of roughly 30 lb/min.

If it were me I'd sell him your busted up(thats what I'm assuming as its being rebuilt) for a rebuilt 60 trim T3 .63/.60. A blown T3/t04e is worth about $200-250 and a properly rebuild/new T3 60 trim is worth about the same.

What I'm saying is, he is correct. I 100% agree with his opinion. I don not agree with swapping that small of a turbine wheel on that big of a compressor wheel though. I also dont agree with spending all that money to do so. The route discussed above I believe will be your best route.

t3/04e .48/.60 ar 57 trim stage 3 wheel here.

Although on an f22b1-all stock inside, i get full boost by 3500, pulls to redline (6500). 260 whp/ 270 tq. Max HP at 6200, max tq at 4750 -10psi, conservative tune.

If I were you id probably stay 63/60 (due to the increased redline), I dont know that id worrty about the trim you have either... im thinking youll spool it fine.

For the LS I think the .63 would be a better choice than the .48 though.

Hope that helps at all....

yeah but IS a stage 3 guys. If you were seriously all that concerned id go down to a .48 stage 3 housing (thats like going to a .63 housing stage 2) which is still a little bigger than a straight stage one (stock) .63 housing.

I agree, that stage 3 setup is almost as big as a .82. I think a .48 stage 2 or 3 or a .63 "stage 1" would work for your application better.
