Turbo Troubles

OK, as some of you might know i just got done with my HMT project on my 91 CRX Si. its a 42/48 T3 if that matters. well, when i start it for the first 5-10 minutes i get oil coming out of the turbo's exhaust side where downpipe goes. i guess thats why it also smokes for the first 5-10 also. do i need a needle valve? and if so where do i get it and how do i tee it in or what? i have a small kink in the oil return line...could that be it? remember the smoke usually goes away after driving for awhile, unless i hit it then i get smoke too. Now for my next question... right in the middle of boosting i get a bog or a stutter sometimes. say i hit it then boost hits, ... its hits good then half way through the rpm's it bogs or stutters and stops pulling!?!?!? sometimes it does and sometimes not ??? any idea what this could be? the timing is still stock and i was thinking about retarding it but i cant really distinguish pinging with all the other turbo noises. could my timing need to be retarded and thats why it stutters? i cant figure it?!? help please...i should be getting pics by this week or so.

Re:Turbo Troubles

the studddddering could be super ass lean conditions. that was one of my problems when i was turbo.

Re:Turbo Troubles

try fixing that oil return first then get a needle valve. If the smoke is still there then get a rebuild.

Re:Turbo Troubles

well, i got a 12:1 fmu so if anything its running rich. also the turbo is brand new remanufactured! it came in a box wrapped in plastic :D....but what could be the problem with the quick bog/studddder it has?!?!? :-\ help

Re:Turbo Troubles

Fix the oil lines first. Your "brand new" turbo is getting its ass kicked right now.

Also, you are using the shittiest form of fuel management available. Don't expect miracles. :P It's not going to be perfect. :-\

Re:Turbo Troubles

ah come on doc, you make me feel bad :'( i know the fmu isnt the best but it should still run fine and pull just not to its complete max cuz of a/f ratio's. the oil in is fine but the oil return line i think has a small bend where it needs to turn and connect to the pan. i am gonna try getting a line that already has a small bend in it to flow better........BUT WHAT ABOUT THE QUICK BOG I GET??? i still have to trial and error some more so i'll check it out

you prob don't have enought spark. try an ignition kit.

Re:Turbo Troubles

also i notice that when i do hit boost the a/f ratio goes blank. it worked perfectly right before the turbo. evrything seems fine then when i hit boost it goes blank ??? any idea? i think maybe i am running lean. i really want to get my ecu chipped with 450's.....which is the best program out right now for a 91 crx si (pm6)? ghettodyne? who can chip it for me? i have no skills at doing it at all so id rather send it so someone who could chip it for me....

Re:Turbo Troubles

That's crazy, If it goes blank you are running way too lean. Are you sure it's a 12:1?
