this turbo too small for my goals?
Got a 1994 GSR, looking to boost 7-8 psi daily driven tuned with hondata or uberdata. Found this turbo for sale for $300. T3 50 trim .48 A/R hot side .42 A/R cold side.
Would this turbo be too small for my goals of 250 wheel hp, 7-8 psi, NO plans to upgrade boost in future, 450cc injectors |

There are many variables within that question. Spool time, plans to exceed boost, rev limits. Look around at other people's setups, fuel management is the hardest thing.
Most people consider a T3 a universal turbo, so if you start with a T3 manifold, you have many options. |

T3 manifold with super 60 or t3/t4

Re:this turbo too small for my goals?
b16 here using a t3 .60/.48 (cold/hot) pulls from 4k on and pulls pretty good till redline. boosting around 5psi right now but will be uping it as soon as I get the chance to about 10psi.

so i take it the t3 60 trim is what i need to be hunting?

Re:this turbo too small for my goals?
yes you'll want the T3 with the 60 trim. If you have $$$ get the T3 Super 60 from Turbonetics. Those are the ones that you want. If not then get the T3 .60/.63. Just note that both the T3 Super 60 and T3 .60/.63 will lag a bit in the low end but will haul ass at the higher rpms.
the T3 .60/.48 that I have starts boosting around 4k and pulls all the way to redline... Just depends on what you want. The T3 .60/.48 will obviously spool quicker on your setup because you have a larger engine but I honestly doubt you'll run out of boost at the high end--thats if you keep it in the sub 12psi range. |
Re:this turbo too small for my goals?
My T3 .42/.48 is not bad. Spools quick, but does tend to let off a little bit above 65000rpm. They are good for the price.

How quick and how much? (What RPM & PSI does it begin making power)
