I recently (15minutes ago) came to have a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries TD05H turbo. The exhaust side a/r says .60 anyone know the intake a/r. It has minimal shaft play. If i can, how do i correct this? Just replace the middle section? Does anyone know where I can get parts for it? Can i leave the shaft play alone if I'm only running pretty low boost, 4-6psi? It came out of a Plymouth Laser. I'm not sure what year though... Anyone know what boost they ran stock? Thanks.

 

TD05h is what lots of us call the "14b" its a pretty large turbo for a stock car, and puts out 8psi from the stock wastegate actuator.

The roughly flow 405cfm @ 15psi, and can make about 300hp before it gets incredibly uneffiecent (20ish psi)

FROM WHAT I READ THE IMPULSE TURBO that i was using made peak horsepower at 9.5 lbs of boost from factory. izz that a sick stock wastegate or am i trippin and thats not even close to reality.

 

With a small turbo like the IHI Rhb52, ya it pretty much maxes out anything over 12psi. Stock wastegate should be around 8psi or so.

 

The new EVOs are pushing boost in the teens stock.

 

If i run only low boost, aorun 4-5 psi will the minimal shaft play make a difference? I have heard the external wastegates found in saabs and volvos are good. Could i seal my internal one shut and just use an external wastegate?
