turbo to small?

i just picked up a 1988 mustang (good old fox)
and it cam with 2 turbos (previous owner was a kid that wanted to turbo it but was more worried about the fact he cant drive the car because it's a 5 speed so he sold it to me for $800 with only 105k miles on it and it's pretty decent looking for the year)

i was thinking about using the turbo's that came with the car but i think they may be just a little to small for it
here are the specs on the box the turbo's are in

Compressor

* Inlet = 2.75"
* Intake (ID / OD) = 1 5/8" / 2"
* Inducer = 38.1 MM
* Exducer = 50.8 MM
* Trim = 56
* A/R = 0.50

Turbine

* Outlet = 2.5"
* Turbo flange = T3
* Downpipe flange = 3" V-band
* Inducer = 33.3 MM
* Exducer = 28.6 MM
* Trim = 74
* A/R = 0.63

Center Section

* Oil cool system
* Oil feed = T3
* Oil return = T3

im not looking for huge power (like 300whp)
but the car is going to be a daily driver (my 97 gtp blew a rod through the block on the dyno when i was having the new 2.8" setup tuned oh well it will give me a project for the winter)

also the engine is a 5.0L v8 (like 160hp 240ft-lbs)
i haven't had it at the track but i would guess mid to low 15's and im hoping for mid 13's and being reliable enough to drive daily

I am always looking to make new friends. But if we meet up, it has to be in a public place

Re: turbo to small?

ok so you tune cars all day as a factory trained super technician, and you dont know what turbos to use. why dont you use one of the millions of turbos you have laying around from all those turbo swaps you do on solstice and skys all day long your a dumbass you dont do ---- and you know nothing. all you do is talk about ---- that you have no idea about

Scott-EP 08-08-2008 08:11 PM

Re: turbo to small?

i have to agree with these people, i have seen some stupid ---- come from your keyboard since you have been here but for some reason i feel like being nice today.

those turbos are just fine for what you are doing. it will spool pretty decent and make some moderate power

Re: turbo to small?

If anyone wants to make Cornfuzed their personal whipping boy, a la Spiker vs Widebooty, I'm sure getting a pair of bans would be no problem.
