turbo size
What size and type of turbocharger should be used on a 3.9L v6? Could you guys point me to a website that might help? Thanks

Re:turbo size
2 t3's or 2 t3/t4's should be good. If you only want to use one I would say a t4.

Re:turbo size
thanks. I want to run a single turbo setup, and some people say that the t4 is too large and will spool up late. Is that right, I dont want to be wishing for a larger turbo in a few months :-\

anybody else got an opinion?

Re:turbo size
Jeff is putting a T4 on a 1.6 Honda...
id go for a big T3/T4 click on the banner up top ( ::) ) and take a look.... |
Re:turbo size
i was under the impression that a t4 was larger than a t3/t4 :-\

Re:turbo size
It is, a t3/t4 has the turbine(exhaust) side of a t3 and the compressor of a t4. They are quicker to spool than a t4, it is a good turbo to use if you are going twin turbo on that engine. If you want a single turbo the t4 would be a good choice.

Re:turbo size
ONE regular t3 would work just perfectly.
it would spool fast and potentially make almost 400hp. do you want go over 400hp? and will that motor even handle 350hp? Johnny |
Re:turbo size
the motor can handle boost, but i dont want to go over 350hp. my only problem is that im worried maybe the t3 will run out of breath. But then..im not planning on revving over 5200 rpm (Dodge v6) gotta love those import 4 cylinders for that awesome rpm. later

Re:turbo size
hm
im not sure about the v6 dakotas. but i know that the v8 r/t dakotas are know to make a lot of hp with stock internals. i seen one supercharged and with a shot of nos. it ran like 12 someting in the 1/4mile with a very little amount of boost. i think 6 pounds. like i said i don't know about the v6s, but i don't think a big t3 would poop out at 5200rpm. i'm not sure though someone who knows t3 flows would be better suited to answer your q. |
