is this turbo shaft toast???

i took my td04 apart & saw that the turbo shaft has some slight scoring at the 2 locations where the bearings were at (see the pic below). when i put the new bearings on at the spot where the old bearings were, i can get a slight play in the shaft up/down when holding the bearing as compared to putting the bearing in the middle of the shaft where there's no scoring. is this shaft toasted? or it's normal?
thanks for any info...

thanks for the quick reply.
fyi, when i run my nail over the scored area, that's when i can feel the scoring...not when i just run my finger over it.

Ahh, it's a TD04, run it. Not like those tiny turbos are expensive anyways!

hmm well if your nail catches its probably questionable, i think if you were gonna use it id at least see how much wear there is in the journal surface with a caliper. If there is a significant amount of wear and the scoring is that noticeable, if i really cared about that turbo and i was rebuilding it i might change it out

Have a reputable turbo shop polish it and use oversized ID bearings. They're available in a few sizes but the thing to think about is that that is a TDO4. Just make sure that the turbine wheel and the compressor wheel don't rub either side of the housing with your new bearings and forget about it. A TDO4 isn't worth doing what you have to do to make sure it's par for the course in the first place.
