turbo shaft play t25
how much play is alowable? can it be checked with a feeler gauge? i have a garret t25 its a .48 .49 and im thinking about rebuilding it, it has some in and out play and up and down. would this be a good turbo to use on a dohc zc or is it to small, i got it for free and im wondering if i should even waste my time with it any help would be appreciated.

Re: turbo shaft play t25
I think it would be fine on a zc since you probably wouldn't want too much boost anyway. You can pick up rebuild kits on ebay for around 75-90 bucks so give it a shot.

free turbo's are always nice :)
if the fins are scratching the housing at all i probly wouldnt use it. |
Re: turbo shaft play t25
Yeah turbos aren't always rebuildable.

Re: turbo shaft play t25
this one looks like the fins have scratched surface of the housing a tiny bit, no deep gouges though or chipped fins.

Re: turbo shaft play t25
T25's have some side play because they use a journal instead of a actual bearing. The
shaft runs on a layer of oil. End play is the one to be worried about. That means the thrust bearing is worn out. Check and make sure that the compressor wheel, or the turbine has not started to seat into the housing. |
