turbo S10

any one got a turbo'ed S10? I'm building my buddies truck for him while he's in iraq and I'd like some help on where to get parts like an exhaust mani the one I got is for a cavi and the down pipe will hit the firewall if I use it I was thinking about cutting the flange off the mani I have now and getting the log mani kit from tunertoys I dont know if the B-series one will work or if I need to get the d-series one or if someone has already done this what mani should I use? I tried to search but the search button kept bringing me to a blank page.

Uhh

#1, since you're using a "cavalier manifold" I'm gonna guess this is the 2.2 sohc?

Re: turbo S10

im pretty sure id go with the b-series since it a little bigger but if you wanted to you cut either to work.

The only time they "Rip" is when they have a SBC swapped into them. In all honesty, why don't you do a motor swap and drop in a 350 or a 383? Might be a bit cheaper and about the same amount of work.

yeah its the 2.2 OHV not SOHC, OBX makes manifolds for the 2.2 that looks like it would work but they were expensive for what they were anybody know where I could get a cheaper one?

this isnt my truck even if it was I wouldnt swap a 350 or 383 I would sell it and buy a honda but its not my truck or my money I'm just helping him do this, we also looked in to an ecotec swap but finding a RWD trans to bolt to the ecotec is a bitch and I dont wanna ---- with the 2.4 eco out of the colorado.

Hey Hey Hey now... i have a 99 blazer ZR2 w/ 33" tires, and 4.56 gears front and back...
It's got the Vortec v6... 265ft/lbs torque... NOT BAD for STOCK... and w/ the gears my truck beats any n/a stock civic >:D

This spring, she's gettin the 5.7 Vortec OBD2 swap.
Direct swap... everything bolts right up... all i need is the v6 flywheel to bolt onto the v8... the v8 wiring harness, and a re-flashed ECU.
SIMPLE!!!! If you want some information on the swap... a great site that i go to is www.zr2usa.com (for the 4x4 s10's)
If your one of them low rider people.... you'll get flamed at that site haha.

Lift that sucker!
Lowered trucks are for wussies who have issues GETTIN IT UP!

www.s10forum.com go to teh 2.2 section and there is more than enough infor about teh manifold.... but the guys on there dont know ---- about turbos..... i have a 2.2 s10 and i looked into this, basically you dont use a manifold, where the stock manifold goes down and under the truck, across to teh other side of the frame.... you basically route the exhaust gasses back into teh engine bay right there and place your turbo in the place of the stock overflow tank.... no manifold needed, basically a remote mount kit thats placed in your engine bay

Re: turbo S10

it all depends on what he has in it now. you could turbo it and keep it small and lite but if you want a real pavment pounder i would go and swap it for atleast a 350.

just use nitrous till that thing blows up and swap in a sbc, but you will need to spend an ass load to make it get traction, thats why i gave up on my ranger.

Re: turbo S10

Why dick with an S-10 at all? It's got to be one of the worst platforms to boost, swap, upgrade or whatever. Not to mention it's hideous. An S10 is for getting good gas mileage and hauling small stuff. For the $ you'd spend turboing it you could get an EF chassis and at least turbo a non-performance car that responds well to mods and can be made performance. Just my humble opinion, but I'd think your time and energy would be better spent elsewhere, or your friend's time or whatever.

Well I don't know about haul some ass, but you can definitly haul; I mean it has a bed for that from the factory. Now a 4.3L may be worth considering boosting, but a 2.2?

For the ultimate turbo swap, Buick GN 3.8 turbo...I can personally attest that this swap will easily rip your throat out through your -------. :6 Pretty much swaps in like a v8 swap too, one of the best s-dime swaps I ever did...although breaking axles and twisting driveshafts on a weekly basis was not the most enjoyable.

Re: turbo S10

I cant believe im saying this BUT...

An SR20DET would fit very nicely, woulndt cost too much, and has a bit of aftermarket suport. Chances are your jsut gonna be spinning in a truck like that anyway.

Plus, i hate those things, the fewer 240's with sr20's the better. The next drift-wannabe that asks me to do an sr20 swap into their pos 240 is gettin a swift kick in the nuts. :6
