Turbo rebuild?

A friend of mine his K26 turbo is leaking oil.
There is no shaft play and it looks all ok.
It obviously needs a rebuild.
What does a rebuild kit consist of and do you need to rebalance the turbo after the rebuild?

Re:Turbo rebuild?

doesnt need rebalancing, provided u mark the shaft and turbine when u remove it. i was quoted 120 cdn for a rebuild for the k26

where is it leaking the oil from? replacing seals is no big deal.

becarful, because sometimes the quickie rebuilds dont last long, due to a bad shaft (out of round).

make sure to double check your oil return too. It would suck to rebuild your turbo and get it in just to have it smoke again and you find out your oil return isnt right.

Re:Turbo rebuild?

oil return is ok ... the turbo ran fine first..it's just old..it's time has come for new seals i guess.
