turbo project done

Now the project is done and finish.

Last summer i start it with a STD manifold, small FMIC and an SMC Plus. Everything was running fine. I decide to go tune it by a turbo shop. Result, they blown my engine and my turbo. they said that my engine was old and not able to handle the boost. SO i receive nothing. I decide to purshase another D16, I ran the rest of the summer not tunned and REALLY rich.

This winter, i upgrade, and change the setup.

Here is the pics.

looks really good man, you gotta start some where ;) that sucks about a shop blowing your ---- up, it was prolly a rice shop that said the specialize in turbo's but don't know how to tune anything except for the high dollar hondata and ems.

Looks nice! ;D

If you don't mind me asking, how did you run a single wire 02 sensor on the first setup?

civic1990si 04-05-2004 10:35 AM

Re:turbo project done

yeah on the first setup, i take my old o2 sensor just to block the hole before i get a bolt. :)

Very nice job!

The only thing bad I would have to say, is that I bet it was a bitch to get that 5 lbs of turbo stuff in a 4 lb bag.. That fits in there tight, like it came like that from the factory.. Props for your work!

Re:turbo project done

civicsi1990, what did you use to tap the oil feed line. I see that half of it is the oil line that came with the turbo, but how did you connect the other half? Is it just high pressure rubber line clamped on there?

I have the same IHI and was going to use the original line and double flare the line to connect to my oil tee, but the line is too hard to flare.

Re:turbo project done

Thanks guys,

for the oil line, it was on the first project and i take cupper hose with a plumbing fitting.

On the other, i take a high pressure hose.

Re:turbo project done

gonna have my WB in 2 week. So i will raise it to 8psi ;D

Re:turbo project done

why not turn the turbo around so you dont have to have a charge pipe almost touching the manifold?

civic1990si 10-06-2004 07:11 AM

Re:turbo project done

because if i turn it, the turbo arrive directly in the radiator.

Next summer i go on the dyno to tune it at 9 or 10 psi.

Before you go to the dyno, make sure you modify your PCV valve or you might damage your rings. Just putting a breather filter on the valve cover is not good enough.

This is what I did to mine: I took out the PCV valve and use a hacksaw to cutoff about a millimeter of the PCV valve and then shake out the spring inside. Insert the modified PCV valve back into the manifold. Run a piece of vacuum hose from the modified PCV valve to an inline cylindrical gas filter (my version of a catch-can) then to the inlet side of the turbo.

With this modification your engine will breathe better and you will notice/feel a little more power.

Ok,

I need to remove my old pcv valve or take another one?

thanks

i dont think anyone can ever be done with there turbo project. you are always going to want more of something

Re:turbo project done

You're right on this. :)

robs99si 10-19-2004 11:34 AM

Re:turbo project done

yep, as soon as you get used to it, you'll want more. as for the shop that blew up your car, i'd take a brick or piece of ceramic from a spark plug and break the mechanice car window! ---- that fool, they didn't care and didn't mind blowing your engine up, they didn't know what they where doing. anyways, good job on doing everything yourself and it looks real good, and clean. ;D
