Turbo Project
OK so i have a bif turbo project i got 10,000$ CAD to make a b16a2 turbo project for my civic coupe 1993 so i want to know to go to the highest possible boost with a t3/t4 ball bearing turbo and an AEM EMS computer. I want to know if someone can tell me what is the better pistons, rings, rod, block guard, crank(if needed to be changed), valve, etc i will need i want to put it at the max boost possible.
thanx a lot. |
Re:Turbo Project
make sure u research for a while before u do anything..
10 grand jesus ----, *rubs hands* lovefab manifold. www.lovefab.com internals u might wanna sleeve it with the cash u got, throw some JE's SRP pistons into with mated with some crower rods, or pauters if your serious. DONT get a blockgaurd get it sleeved by golden eagle, benson, or darton. might wanna get the head ported and polished then throw some ferrera SS valves in there. anything else? |
Re:Turbo Project
with that much money i'd have a 10-11 sec daily driver ;D
|
Re:Turbo Project
hmmm $10,000 you say, i'd buy a CRX HF(1800 lbs.) drop the b16a2 and throw a greddy turbo kit on it, 3 inch exhuast all the way through with no cat, some hardcore suspension work and some 17's with slicks, that would be a fast ass car.

Re:Turbo Project
no i have to say that if i had the money i would have probably have bought a kit, and by having the money i mean $10,000, wouldnt you, you dont have to worry about it not working, you dont have to collect the parts, you just order it online and bam it even comes with directions.
|
Re:Turbo Project
the new greddy kits dont come with the "blue box" anymore, they come with a pre-programmed e-manage unit, so you could change everything around when running higher boost.
|
Re:Turbo Project
Well, no. I'm not a fan of Greddy anything. You would be limited to the amount of HP you could reach. For the small things like oil lines, couplers, fittings, piping, I might consider buying some sort of "kit", but not the key turbo components(turbo, manifold,...). How is a kit more reliable than a custom setup? If it is done right the first time you don't have to worry about it. Plus, I like to pick my own parts. I don't want to be stuck with the parts that are included in the kit. I wouldn't even use most of them, maybe the intercooler.....

Re:Turbo Project
well id use the t3/t4 turbo the b16a2 kit comes with, but i wasent talking just about a high horsepower car, i was thinking more light weight and 10-11 seconds is to fast for a dailey driver, my girl friend drives my car when i;ve had too much to drink and im sure you wouldnt want your girlfriend who barely drives a stick driving a 10 second car? your talking more about full race setup than daily driving.
|
Re:Turbo Project
the greddy kits dont come with 18g's anymore?...hmm, and just turn the boost down when your girl drives, or have her drive her car when you go drinking...or sleep in your car

Re:Turbo Project
I am assuming he is talking about building a serious racer since he is planning on building it for maximum boost with the highest quality parts available. I still wouldn't buy a kit though. To me, that's like taking your car to a shop with a pocket full of money and saying "Here is my car, make it fast."

Re:Turbo Project
Yeah I dont think all the big 9second players run pre-fabed turbo kits. All that ---- is custom.I dont think Papadakis or Kubo would be cought dead with a Greddy kit.Maybe APC lights but not a kit!

Re:Turbo Project
Yep to answer all your question am building a custom turbo engine for serious races but i want it to be streetable.
I'm thinking of sleeving my b16a2 engine with B18c sleeves and put a b18c stroker kit to get 2.1liter and 9.1CR with SRP pistons. I want to put a T3/T4 ball bearing i don't know yet what AR to put on I'm waiting the reply from turbonetics i put a race equl lenght manifold with external wastegate, and the output of the wastgate will go out in the side of the front bumper so when the wastegate will be open the car will be straight pipe. I put a 30" wide intercooler with a C02 intercooler. AEM EMS. JG/Edelbrock VictorX intake manifold with secondary fuel rails, pro flo fuel rails, 65mm Throttle body, 4 Pico Style, High Impedance, Secondary Fuel Injectors(I don't know yet wich size i wll need) AEM EMS to control all that. I got both Type-R Camshaft on my b16 head i just don't know what to put like valve and etc someone have a website with high performance valve ? by the way the 10,000$ is only to put on the engine i already have the car :)) Someone have any other idea about what i will need? by the way i have a complete turbo kit working really nice put 160whp on a d16z6 engine i got the computer reprogrammed for 8psi i have a MSD BTM with it complete stainless piping 24"X6"X3" the turbo a mitsubishi td04h with a hf manifold i dont have any adapter plate because i have cut the turbo flange and reweld a flange then i have mave so it look like if it was original!! the only problem is then i'm in canada but if semeone is interested my e-mail is speedy_2k2@hotmail.com |
Re:Turbo Project
Anything is possible.
i've seen a Daily drive CRX run low 11's. On stock bottom end....good T3/T4 turbo and the one thing that makes a car go fast and reliable a good standalone enginge management. Tune it well and you can run 11's at the track and ride all day long. When you're driving to work etc....just turn down the boost. And when you go race turn it up. With all that money i would suggest to sleeve the block though |
Re:Turbo Project
If i had that kind of money I would either get a SC61 or maybe SC63 turbo or a GT ceramic ball bearing turbo GT30 or so.
|
Re:Turbo Project
i'd call tubonetics and have them build it for me, but thats me.
|
Re:Turbo Project
shorty what about posting the block???? I think that would be a good idea.
|
Re:Turbo Project
Yes no problem i will post all update and picture on this thread

Re:Turbo Project
Posting the cylinders is better than a block gaurd but is nothing compared to sleeving the block.
Once sleeved, your cylinders will be able to withstand 40+PSI of boost. All of the big dogs sleeve their blocks for a reason. True, you can have 500HP on a non-sleeved block, but I won't last as long as a sleeved block. And when I say sleeved, I am talking about Golden Eagle or Darton Sleeves. I'm sure once you have this beast up and running your going to beat the hell out of it and enjoy the power you paid for. The last thing you want to worry about is a cylinder cracking and having a 700HP car that you can't drive hard because you're scared something will break. If you are going to go all the way, do it right the first time and forget about it. |
