Turbo pontiac 455

Hey guys, just signed up here. I got a 1981 trans am with a stock 1976 455 and stock they came with 220hp and a stupid low 7:1CR. I am gunna put a bit bigger bump stick in in 234/234 .490 lift @50 and a 110 LSA. with that cam I should be making in the neighborhood of 350. I got to thinking it would be fun to do a draw through turbo on the 455 but the trouble is finding a turbo the right size. I don't want to go out and drop stupid amounts of money on a turbo, I am looking to do some junkyard turbo stuff. Its just a idea I have and if the total cost comes out something stupid I will just drop it. I dont want to push any crazy PSI, I would like to stay pump gas 89 octane. I was thinking the closest engine with a turbo this size would be the 7.3l powerstroke diesel. It makes no difference to me if its single or twin turbo, I just want the cheapest way to get more action out of the thing. Any guidance at all would be great help because when it comes to turbo sizing I am in the dark. Everything else I will work out, not new to fab. A power goal would be at least 450 because if I wanted to I could grab a set of smaller chamber heads and make 450 no issue, but the draw through turbo seems way too different and it would be interesting to give it a shot. Sorry if I am rambling or left anything out but I am dead tired right now.

Thanks in advance, Adam

Nothing is cheap when you want reliable performance. You have to do a little math to figure out what turbo you want to look for. Its posted on this site in many places. You can also go here http://www.turboneticsinc.com/choose_turbocharger
