turbo owned by oil pressure?
So recently I noticed that there is some oil on the inlet on the cold side of my 14b. There isn't any in the ic pipes and none is coming out the exhaust at least its not burning any. I assume this is a sign I need an oil restrictor and likely a rebuild kit for the turbo. Or is there something more I don't know about?

80 psi + turbo= blown seals eventually.

Yep sounds like turbo seals to me :y

Re: turbo owned by oil pressure?
Common guys, only piston rings keep the oil in the turbo.... These things don't blow! There's no Rubber "seals" in there that can "blow".
High oil ressure won'tT damage the turbo on the short term. It may cause leakage, but if you turn down the pressure with a 1/16" restrictor, it should stop the leakage. I say, it's either because the turbo has a loose shaft and is due for a rebuild (if you're playing at making over 240 HP with a 14B, that's most likely the case) Or, a restrictive (dirty) air filter that creates a vacuum in the comrpessor under boost, sucking oil out of the center section through the compressor seal. I can rebuild that turbo for you if you want |
Re: turbo owned by oil pressure?
Well the turbo is old I'm guessing seeing as I got it for 50$. I'm not running a filter, screen door material ftw. I know its probably not ideal but stock block isn't necessarily ideal either. But it works. How much do u charge for a rebuild BLAAST?
