TURBO OIL LEAK??
HEY GUYS !! sup? i got a question , i got a missle sishi tdo5-12a turbo charger
ive had it a few years and rebuilt it once it started leaking between the center section and exhaust housing and out the compresser n2 the charge pipe. so i rebuilt the dmna thing again, i,ve rebuilt dozens of mistubishi turbos so i know i did it right the only thing i did different this time was use a smaller oil return two -6 an fittings and -6 ss line . compared to the 3/8 or 1/2 " (inner diam.) hose ive used before . could the oil return flow be too much for the -6 an line and fittings? and be pooling up in the housing causing the oil to come out the exhust seal and compressor seal? or am in a state of denial from a bad turbo, its been moved around a bit from a conquest , to eg civ, now a 99 clipse how can a fellowgear head get turbo spec's of the internals so i measure the seals and bearings to see if its beyond repair? i really don't want to replace it ...its :-[ very sentimental to me it powered my first 93 civ cupe to decent 13 sec time .. and i'm not done with.. ;D |
Re: TURBO OIL LEAK??
Switch to a -10 drain, and if that doesn't work choke the bitch with a restrictor. ;)

Re: TURBO OIL LEAK??
after i make a bigger oil return, how far should i restrict the oil press to at idle 5psi? 10 psi? because its gonna raise with rpm isn't it?
i'm gonna put a press gauge on it til i get the right base press reading but .. how much press should i run in the oil feed line? |
Re: TURBO OIL LEAK??
Garrett says 30PSI should be the max oil pressure running through the turbo.
