turbo noob, turboing a ford 300 w/ holset h1c?
it's a 1991 f150, efi 300 (4.9l) inline 6, running around 166k miles (not a thing worn in the least on this engine) i picked up a holset h1c off of a '88-'89 cummins ram (for free, friend got it for me somehow..), truck only had 56k miles, bearings are tight side to side, very little push/pull shaft play, only problem i have is it had no wg/bov on it, and i have no downpipe.
few questions regarding it:
1. downpipe flange, can i make one from steel and weld the pipe up?
2. boost control, what's the best way?
3. since the manifold is twin-exiting 2" pipes, should i utilize the split scroll design of the turbo? i don't know if it'll benefit any more than one single pipe
4. i'm looking to make at least 7 or 8 psi, and i know i need to update the 12lb/hr injectors it has now. reccomendations?
5. the truck:
sitting right now with 2.5" straight exhaust, 2.5" true core dynomax race muffler, a 302 TB, and a cummins ram air filter
