i am currently rebuilding a 1987 nissan hardbody with the z24 2.4L 8v engine in it and for my senior prodject at school i want to rebuild and turbo charge it and i was wondering if you guys could help me out. p.s. it has the engine before the ka24e the intake manifold is a wet manifold and it has 8 valves thats about the only difference

the Z24 can make alot of power, but you'll have trouble keeping a headgasket in it if you dont build it right

a KA swap would be cheaper and semi easier to build but i dont think would respond to the mods as well as the Z24, i drove my buddys stroker Z24 510 and loved it ;D i tried to get him to boost it but he pussed out

well i dont have much money i was just thinking of rebuild blueprint the block turbo it and the things for the turbo ill try to find a copper head gasket for it. i thought about the sr swap in it but the people in my town i would get the engine from sell them for $3500 and my engine im looking at around $2k

buy a wrecked 300ZX for like 1K and swap that in, VG30DET baby, i bought the one i had for $300 and it still ran and drove perfectly, body was just fucked beyond repair from rolling it on the freeway ;D i was gonna do that to my 510 but decided to turbo the L-16 instead

well i have already upgraded my z24 i put a cam, catback exhust and intake mods ... ill trade lol

you might say that but i have raced 24 time and got 18 wins and after i get the turbo and a few tricks i think i can get 350 hp

Guy that wants to turbo the d21:
You can keep your bottom end and swap a SOHC ka head on there very easily, you can get 4 or 5 different turbo manifolds for the single cam ka and also you can run 89-90 240sx fuel injection, check out http://eccs.hybridka.com for fuel management as well.

well jet will put a custom chip for the upgrades for $300. this is my idea, rebuild engine with roler rockers, and behive springs, and a copper head gasket. put a magnaflow cat and custom 3" exhaust. put a fuel cell in the bed with an after tank high flow fuel pump and a pressure regulator. sen the ecu of to be customized. put the turbo kit on it, find a place for the intercooler and run the piping. and finally do a tran. swap to manual
