turbo + mini me setup
i am working on my HMT setup using a t3 turbo. the motor is a stock D15B7 i was also thinking about doing a mini me setup by putting a D16Y8 head on it. i know that a stock D15B7 should have 9.1:1 compression ratio and if the setup is done right the D15B7 block with D16Y8 head, head gasket and belt should be around 11:1. so my question is will the engine hold up with a compression ratio of 11:1 and turbo with around 6psi on a stock motor or should i go with just the turbo and forget the head swap?

Re: turbo + mini me setup
with the right tuning an money it will.

Re: turbo + mini me setup
thanks for telling me something i didnt know.
what i wanted to know is that with the higher compression 11.1 would the engine work well with the turbo |
Re: turbo + mini me setup
actually would it work well with stock pistons rods crankshaft and the stock D16Y8 head?

Re: turbo + mini me setup
like he said, will only work well with a good tune and management which equals $, what dont you understand? get a different head gasket, lower the comp... unless your goal is to have a high comp boosted motor? not worth the effort.

Re: turbo + mini me setup
don't try it man, i was tring to be a cheap bastard while finishing up my buildt z6 and blew up 2 d15b7/z6's with out raping them! those pencil dick rods will not take it!!

Re: turbo + mini me setup
The mini me is not worth it if you're going to boost it, it's really not. Vtec is overrated, the stock d15b7 compression ratio is great for boost, and will give you a little more of a margin of error. But still make sure it's tuned.

Re: turbo + mini me setup
alright thanks guys

Re: turbo + mini me setup
yea mini me raises comp. a lil too much to boost and make it worth while. Pop a dohc zc in there. they like boost.
