Turbo leaking oil, T-25 Help!!!

i just install my turbo on a D16Z6 vtec sohc today. the fucker is leaking oil big time through the down pipe and the compressor side. the play shaft is pretty tight. the turbo seems to be in an excellent condition. after the leaking, i also try a brand new one, which is suppose to go in my brosther's car. it also leak but only on the downpipe side. the only problem i can think of right now is prabably the oil pressure is too high, i do not know exactly how much psi is going into the turbo. if someone know or experience this problem or have any suggestions please help. thanks.

Sounds like your oil return is backing up... Be sure where you tapped into the Oil pan has to be above the oil level, so basically at the top of the oil pan. And make sure there is no kinks in the line, and its a large diameter hose for smooth flow. Its very important.

i did tap the oil return on the top as much as possible. the return oil line is a 1/4" line, like the one that is going into the feed line. do i need to make the return line bigger? the return line is pretty round and smooth. i custom it myself. maybe the return line isn't bigh enough like the original one. anymore advice would greatly appreciated. thanks.

Ahh, thats your problem, the oil return needs to be fairly large, I would go with 1/2 - 5/8 the bigger the better dude.. oil is just getting backed up in the center section and dumping out the seals.

I would fix your line first and see if the problem still exist.

i have tried the return oil with a bigger pipe that goes into the top of oil pan(factory pipe from mitsubishi). i even let the return oil straight down to the groung into a bucket and the fucker is still leaking big time. what i notice at this time is the flow of the oil that's going out is not freely like the water side. i blow on it between the water and oil, the oil seems to be some restriction, is this normal? the oil going in is very fast, but the oil coming is very slow, or maybe the turbo deal is bad? is it safe at all just to run turbo on water cool? or do i need both oil and water.

make sure you dont have your turbo setup wrong. there is a feed hole and a dump hole in the center cartridge it isnt like the water that flow either way. one way only. make sure it isnt backwards. sounds dumb but may be it.

Re:Turbo leaking oil, T-25 Help!!!

No you have to run the oil cooled section of the turbo, otherwise it wouldnt last longer than a few mins. It lubricates the bearings/shaft in the cartridge. How long did you run it with the oil retun going straight down? it may take a few mins, and a load on the engine to get all the ---- out of the seals, and yes it is normal for the oil return just to dribble out like that. You may have a bad turbo..

Re:Turbo leaking oil, T-25 Help!!!

i ran the oil straight down about a minute and it's still leaking. i resolve the leaking problem by limited the flow of the oil to the oil feed with regulator. i now ran into a different problem. i think the turbo is now working alright by not letting too much oil into the turbo feed. i hope this is ok. new problem, when booting to more thsn 5 lbs. the check engine light comes on and no power power at all. is there any way i can bypasss the engine light and let the engine ignore the boosting? i also added a mod chip to the stock computer, i don't know if this is a factor that causes this. or is there a completely new ecu that i can use to control it? any recommendation please advice.

what type of fuel management are you using?

Re:Turbo leaking oil, T-25 Help!!!

Exactly.. what are you using for engine management? FMU? bigger injectors? BTM? have you installed any check valves yet for your map sensor? otherwise you will get a CEL, and it will run like ----.

this is what happens when there is no know how before they attempt a diy....

post for us everything on the car. no like chip, put what kinda chip. ecu, turbo, injectors etc etc.

everything.

Re:Turbo leaking oil, T-25 Help!!!

right now i am not using any fuel management. but i will be putting in FMU in two days. the mod chip that i added on is f from ebay. the mod chip is added to the ecu inside in the unit itself. now, how would i go about hooking up check valve so my car won't run like ----.
