Turbo Impreza

Noob question. If I had a regular Impreza and I wanted to turbo it. Could I buy a used WRX manifold, downpipe, ECU, intercooler, smaller turbo and bolt it on. I know everything would bolt up, but I'm assuming I can't run as much boost as they run on the WRX so I would need a smaller turbo. Would I need bigger injectors? I haven't priced out all the parts to see if its worth it or not. I'm curious because used WRX's are really hard to find around here. So if I could buy a used Impreza and do this turbo setup I would be close to the same HP as a WRX. Thanks for any input.

It depends, the parts technically should bolt up but I don't think you can run the WRX ecu to supply the engine with spark/fuel. What year is your Imprezza? If it's pre OBD2 I doubt it will work that way.

And if it did work, yes you would need larger injectors.

(WRX injectors because that is what the stock ecu is tuned to)

I am currently building a Turbo 2.5 RS, Its a 99 I believe, with my neighbor. He has an IHI T-bird snail, WRX top mount and BOV, WRX injectors and we are going to use an AFC and make the up pipe, down pipe, and intercooler plumbing. He removed the A/C tonight. We will take pics when we do the actual install.

Re: Turbo Impreza

I actually don't own an Impreza. I was looking for a used Wrx wagon, but they are few and far between around here. Impreza is easy to get. I would buy a 02 Impreza. I was thinking of buying a used Impreza, drive it until warranty is off and then scope the junkyards for WRX components. Our emission laws in Canada aren't as strict so I'm not sure how the ECU would work in that regard.
