Turbo Help Please
Ok So i'm putting a turbo on a 1995 chevy s-10 2.2L 4cyl
I'm running 9 to 1 cr (prity high I think) I narowed it down to two turbos, and I dont know what would be better. Here they are: Garrett T3 (.48/.42) or Garrett T3-T04b (.48/.60.) Can someone make a suggestion or tell me if there is a better turbo out there Thanks Larry |
Re:Turbo Help Please
there is a straight T3 off a t-bird 5spd that is .60/.63
get that one. with a 2.2 liter keep above a .50 a/r or your gonna spool to fast.. hrm whats the redline on that motor? |
Re:Turbo Help Please
I think they say it redlines at 5500 but I only take it to 4500-5000 at the most. I would like the turbo to start to boost at about 2500-2700rpm and reach full boost over 3000rpm

Re:Turbo Help Please
9:1 isnt that high.

Re:Turbo Help Please
What does A/R stand for?

Re:Turbo Help Please
I think its AIR RATIO ???
|
Re:Turbo Help Please
area/radius
basically its what determines what you spool at. (hot a/r) the bigger the a/r the higher itll spool. a/r is how big the gap is inside the turbo when the exhaust hits the fins. SMALL A/R (.40) http://www.shortyz.net/turbo/smallar.jpg BIG A/R (.60-.80) http://www.shortyz.net/turbo/largear.jpg |
Re:Turbo Help Please
Ok thanks alot for that I had no idea what it was, I kinda figured it was the size of the air intake.
So at what rpm would a t3-t04b .48/.60. Start spooling on my motor just approximately ? I was told that that one would be perfect. But that was from the guy I was buying it from. I just took my truck out for a ride and I wont it to start to boost at about 2500-2700, And I got it to 5500 rpm but I didnt like that. to much for the old girl lol. Larry |
Re:Turbo Help Please
well u say .60/.48
the cold side a/r really doesnt matter at all just another spec. the trim is what u want off the cold side. now is the hot side .60 or .48? if its 60 go for it itll work. |
