2 Attachment(s)
hi im going for boost 8-10 psi

ive got 2 options for a turbo
1 from a volvo 440 1.9TD
2 fram a volvo 940 2.3TD

ive got a Honda civic d16z2 sohc stock internals
ford transit intercooler
alu charge pipes
450cc injectors
chrome fuel management comming...
manifold is commping up.. depending which1 of the turbos i choose.
External adjustable WG

my question is
what kind of turbo is on those cars?
I've got some pics.. but no further info..

when will boost kick in with these turbo's? and when will it blow only useless hot air?

this is the one from the 940
Attachment 30058

this is the 440 one

940, probably bigger. you could measure and pick the big one you know??

i also think the 940 is bigger.

but whats the effect of the 440 on my d16z2 ? when will it spoolup? and wen will it stop?

theyre both form a diesel engine, some say dont take a dieselturbo... why not? doesnt matter right? does it?

will the one from a 440 do a good job on my d16z2 engine?

spoolup @ 3500 or probably earlyer?

im pretty sure as well they are both just .42 .48s and if they are different its probably nothing special enough to make a big difference. get the cheaper one. and my .42 .48 spooled pretty fast (9psi around 3k) so it should spool simalar on your z2.

well those turbos should regulate somewhere around 6-8psi with the stock actuator and on your engine it should hold that to all the way to red line.

i found this on the internet

these are specifications from the Volvo 440

Compressor type: Garrett T2 turbo

the 940 is a good t3. MAybe it even has a 0.63 a/r turbine!!!!! this turbo is just waiting for a larger compressor!!!

The other one sucks. it's a T25. Tons of fitment and reliability problems, limited upgrade and rebuild possiblities and not that much power.

Re: Turbo help needed 440 or 940

ok, but im nog going for extreme horsepower.
i will use stock internals.

if boost kicks in @ 3500 + its ok with me.

I just found another turbo. its a mitsubishi turbo from aiveco TD daily. is this one bigger?

Thatīs correct. I have the one on the second photo but i just can say that is a GARRETT T2, itīs water/oil cooled, 41.48, i donīt have it on my engine yet (D16A9) but i think itīs too small...

Re: Turbo help needed 440 or 940

42/48 is bigger. the 42 is bigger. is the 42 the size of the compressor side?

JFP-91 CRX 01-18-2007 12:21 PM

Re: Turbo help needed 440 or 940

No, thatīs the turbine side at least on my Garrett T2 - i can read A\R 41 on the turbine side and A\R 48 on the compressor.
