Default Turbo help

Hey everyone,

First off, I know search is your friend, and looking in the search, I did not see anything with the goals I want and the parts I needed....

I know I am going to get flamed, oh well, ---- happens

anyways,

I have a 92 Honda Accord Sedan with a 5 speed. It has an F22a1 in there, with exhaust, header, f22a6 intake manifold, cold air intake.

I want to turbo the car, but don't want to buy some shitty kit, and would really rather piece together my own kit.

my goals I want, are at minimum 270 HP and at maximum 325HP
I want to be able to run it on the street, but when time comes, throw the slicks in back, take it to the track, put the slicks on and run it.

If anyone can give me a parts list as to what I am going to need, and from what car, that would be GREAT

thanks in advance

ian

1. you will not be flamed by me. Old saying "what goes around, comes around"

2. F22a1 has iron sleeves. So you're doing better then the majority of honda engines

3. the F22a1 has one of the best flowing heads Honda has ever made. Period.

Your list should go like this:

- castiron/mild steel turbo manifold - ebay (not some chinese crap)
- t3 turbo. preferably a Garrett GT2871 or Holset HX30 - ebay or forums - $100-1400
- 3" downpipe and exhaust - local exhaust shop. should run about $3-400
- External wastegate if needed (preferred) - $50-150
- 2.5" intercooler and piping - $200
- cheap NAME BRAND Blow Off Valve - $50-100
- ARP Headstuds
- Cosmetic Headgasket
- Tapped oil pan - DIY
- Boost controller, Boost Gauge, Air/Fuel Gauge/meter (should have an extra bung placed on your downpipe
- TUNE

And Last but not Least, a product that'll help you achieve the horsepower level you want, is a Water-Methanol System. I say this because you want to reach a level of hp which is enough to probably blow your motor. The system will cool your motor substantially and will also increase Reliability

Hope that helped

dont forget the high pressure oil feed lines, and the return line. And, depending on the turbo, a water feed line.

One last one

Is this turbo a good one to use instead of the holset or the hella expensive garrett you posted about?

Garrett turbo .53 /.64 T3/T4 : eBay Motors (item 320482965264 end time Feb-08-10 21:27:06 PST)

It all depends on how much whp/hp/bhp you want. It also depends on how healthy your motor is.

The higher the boost level you want, the more motor support you want; pistons/rods/sleeves/ valves/ P&P/etc etc. Everything has to be factored in for the best results.

that garrett turbo isnt too bad. It'll spool out nicely at around 4000rpm and has a pretty sweet power band; better then the gt28 and holset i mentioned. Though, for your motor, you want something a tad smaller. Try finding yourself a 16g turbo. It'll spool up at around 3-3400rpm and will get you up towards 300whp with the right tune.
