Turbo GSR..... I need help
so I have a gsr turbo powered EG and last week I was out driving it the oil light came on and we lost boost. I got the car home took the turbo off and made sure it was in good shape, it was... I started the car again and after about 4 seconds the cam started squeaking I put oil on the valve train and started it once again and it didnt make any noise til the oil got whipped off the cam lobes. My first thought is to look at the oil pump because the lower end wasn't making any noise. Is there any other suggestions or do you guys agree that it is probably the oil pump? please let me know asap, I want to get this car going again.

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
is the oil pan dented?
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
ya the oil pan has a few dents in it and i just noticed that there is a wires coming for where the oil pump is and the wire's were broke on the other side of where in plugs together. Im not sure if there's a sensor that comes from those wire's that might make a difference

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
that plug is for the crank flux sensor...your eg is OBD1 and they dont use crank flux sensors, that sensor is useless and shouldnt be plugged into anything.

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
Wait, so the oil light came on and you continued to drive it all the way home?
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
if the oil pan is dented where the oil pickup is, it could have a problem with oil pressure.

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
no i have triple a and i had them come pic it up because the timing also skipped but we retimed it when we got home and it started right up and we checked out the valvetrain and it all looked ok. Ok ya the cars obd1 so i'll just tuck it away a little bit better

anyone?

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
sounds like you fucked some ---- up...what do the cams/bearings look like?
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
the cams were good and the motor doesnt make any lowerend noise, i dont have a oil pressure gauge yet but sounds like it trys to build oil pressure when you rev it up, so im hoping that would be a oil pump and not bearings
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
bearings dont effect oil supply. obviously you are not getting oil to teh head. check your pump and oil passageways. Soemthing may be clogged, preventing oil from getting to the head.

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
If the turbo you were running was stuffed ... eg years of oil clogged up you might have got that ---- into your engine . So now its blocking the supply. Or the oil pump is fucked.

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
well I haven't had time to check out the oil pump yet but everyone seems to be in agreement, its either a clogged passageway or the pump :-\

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
I work on RX-7 so this is a little new to me. Well i unplugged te oil press sender to get the light off, just to try to get it to prev. prob condition. Now the motor runs a little smoother but does not boost above 3 psi, as soon as it gets to 3 psi it drops back to 10vac. and holds, the car has good fuel press. Another this the car smokes light blue/white smoke. The white smoke is not coolent, has been pressure tested to 16 psi. it is intermited

Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
your turbo is fucked yo :)
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
ya about that i took the turbo apart and it looked fine, no shaft play nothing. So i dont think the turbo's bad
|
Re: Turbo GSR..... I need help
i dont care how it looked, my buddys t-66 looked fine and seemed to be in flawless condition, but it wouldnt build any boost pressure, we were on the dyno trying to get it tuned, we took it off and like i said seemed to be flawless, so we replaced it with a t-70 and it worked fine, built 25 psi no problem....700 whp ls/vtak crx... >:D
