Turbo gaskets.
Hi I did some searching but didn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I don’t want to purchase gaskets I just want to make them is this possible? For the hot side of the turbo I think I will use copper and for the cool side I just have some make your own gasket ---- (thin rubber stuff).
Is this a good idea? Or a dumb one? |
Re: Turbo gaskets.
stop being cheap....
at least buy an actual gasket for what you need it for.. e bay is your friend |
Re: Turbo gaskets.
I may be tired and not thinking right from all the weld smoke here at work, but where is the gasket for the cold side at? ???

Re: Turbo gaskets.
compressor housing.
actually, just get some rector seal or non-hardening gasket material if youre that worried about it |
Re: Turbo gaskets.
Liberal use of copperspray hasn't let me down yet.

Re: Turbo gaskets.
used soda can makes good gaskets along with copper spray

Re: Turbo gaskets.
I've used a thin layer of wheelbearing grease the last few years. Has worked so much better than the OEM and any other turbo gasket I've ever used. Bolts don't loosen, haven't had any leaks. Just make sure to let the car run no boost for 30 minutes or so before boosting. The grease gets hot, basically burns up and leaves a hard carbon that seals well and will not melt.
