turbo g1 teg...take 2 with pics (56k? maybe you should sit this one out)

Okay, this is the same kit I had on my 87 teg, but with some upgrades.

The upgrades are:
1) NO MORE FMU!! I have REAL fuel management now. A chipped ECU, running on turboEDIT, a HULOG datalogging cable, and an ostrich emulator. I also have DSM 450cc injectors to give more fuel. I couldn’t use these things before, because the 87 is vac advanced, and therefore is untunable.
2) I "ported" and "bored" my cheap ass eBay HF adapter plate for better flow. However, I don’t think it will help much.
3) I have a brand new wastegate...a smaller one to make sure things clear without grinding down the block, or mounting things weird.
4) I fabbed' up (cut and welded some steel) my own wastegate bracket, so I don’t have to mount the wastegate to the block this time. It still didn’t clear, so I had to cut and re-weld a few times :1
5) a wideband and autometer c2 boost and oil pressure gauges to help me keep an eye on things. The old sunpro boost gauge is used to test pipes.

I also didn’t need to hack the front bumper to make the 2.5" thick intercooler to fit with this car. With the 87, I had to remove the front grill and stuff the intercooler in there, but the 88-89 bumper has a lot more space in front of the radiator. :P

I also used a bit of flex pipe on the passenger side to help plumb-up the system. It makes things a lot easer to work with, the couplers in that are fit nicely (unlike last time) I also had to make some new pipes on the driver side...the old pipes from the 87 didn’t fit at all on the 89 :?

I also have an oil restrictor, which I didn’t have before :l

Anyway, I haven’t driven the car much yet. I did a lil bit tonight as I begin to tune the vac side of things, and to get rid of the rest of this 87 octane gas.
I've been waiting to do this for a looooooong time, but I ran out of money, and I didn’t want to pay for 91 octane while I was broke. Now, that its done, I can hang out at Wal-Mart parking lots, and be 'cool' and ----. I can also get mad tyte JDM bitches.

BTW, I didn’t throw away the header or my intake. It was for symbolism and artistic photo reasons :P :P

anyway, here are the pics

flipping sweet Napoleon! How did you go from teh vac advance to the other dizzy? is it just swap the dizzy and ECu or is it more complicated than that?

I would love to show more pics of the car, but alas, it is no more. I got into an accident, and the car is dead :-[ To be honest, it looked very stock, expectt for the SE sideskirts and SE spoiler. It was even on stock wheels at stock ride height. Oh yeah, you could also see the intercooler peeping thru the front grill

I did not convert this car from vac advance to electric advance...I just bought a new car. I did try to convert my 87 to electric adv. but failed 3 times. The wiring for the 2 cars is very different. There is a guy www.g1teg.org who claims he has done the swap somehow, but he had a lil tantrum for unknown reasons, and left the forum. There is also another person who claims to have figured out how to do the conversion, but hasn’t tried/tested it. I still have my 87, so what I am doing now is ripping out the wire harness from my wrecked 89 (inside the cabin and in the engine bay) and putting it in the 87. That way, things are sure to work.
