A friend of mine drop in an turbo in his civic DX. His motor is an D16z6 turbo w/ 1st gen talon turbo using HF manifold with a small FM I/C... I've driven the car and it feels like its slower then my mini-me vtec... I've driven another friend of mine car (Delsol S w/ the same setup) and it feels why more power and its alot faster then my mini me and I can blow away integra. What do he need to make his car run like a SOHC VTEC turbo car champ with limited amount of $$$$$? (All he got is a drop in custom kit with nothing else)....

 

yo have to be more specific! dsm turbo with a hf mani is not saying much.

 

probably a clutch and a good driver, if the kit is all working properly it should be way faster the a sohc VTAK.

dude i got the same setup, t25 with hf manni and first gen BOV and vortech 12:1 fmu and i'm eatin stock GSRs like nothing........ and my buddie with a turbo GSR , he can only beat me by about 1-2 car lengths..... and i only have a d15b7 with my turbo setup

 

The setup is, Hf manifold with adapter plate to a 1st gen dsm turbo, custom pipes w/ frt mt intercooler. No fuel injectors, fuel regulator, fuel pump, boost gauge, and no FMU. What should we start with to make it run better (on a budget)....

 

Noticed the word I underlined in your quote? The car needs them to perform .

On a more serious note, one reason could be in the tuning. Maybe his car is running very rich. Even though you or your friend have the same setup, his might need more tweaking. Take the car for a ride and before you shut it off, do a hard run then pull the plugs and inspect them. Their condition can help tell the state of the air/fuel mixture.
