turbo efficiency
 
i was looking at a compressor map for my turbo. and at 10 psi i am looking at 64% efficiency. so i was wondering at what % do you guys start looking at bigger turbos.

what motor and turbo trim you using?

64% at 10psi i would probably upgrade the turbo if you plan on going anywhere above 15 psi

I guarantee that you're reading it wrong unless it's something wussy like a T15.

i dont think that the motor and turbo matter but if you want it is a 4g37 and a tdo4h-13c. an i dont plan on going past 10psi because 12 will push it off the map. and i would suggest that you look at the post above about choosing the right turbo because the motor/ turbo has already been taken into account

and sixsick- its a 13c i got it for free, i was planning on running it on a 1.3 but i sold the car. i am trying to see if it is even worth throwing on because i am haveing boost withdraws

I think the standard is to stay above 70% efficiency.... but the majority of us honestly just crank the fugg outta the boost controllers and hope for the best.

was just curious about the motor/turbo, just for my knowledge. and if 2 psi is going to push a turbo's effeciency from 64% to off the chart a larger turbo would certainly not hurt to be safe. but shi if its free who cares ;) like the guy said, crank up the boost, when the turbo starts chokin time for a upgrade ;D

Yeah that turbo can deepthroat my wang. What'd you get it off of, wait let me guess, Volvo or Chrysler LeBaron? Either way its barely good for 250 ish cfm practical and just a bit over 300 cfm but you wouldn't want to overspool it. Your best bet is to keep the boost low otherwise all you'll be pushing is hot air and ruining your motor that much quicker.

Whats your CR, 9.1:1 right?

yeah the turbo came off a volvo. i think i will just throw it on and wait till someone wrecks a car with a better turbo. my local yard will let me pull any turbo for $50, just every turbo car there is already missing the turbo
