Re: AT Turbo d16y8 with a Z6 head?
if u have a y8 head dont bother changing it
more trouble than its worth |
Re: AT Turbo d16y8 with a Z6 head?
would i be able to make more power with lower compression?
|
Re: AT Turbo d16y8 with a Z6 head?
i dont think there is that much of a comp diffrence to go through the troubles of changing a head
the y8 has a squareish combustion chamber and a littler lower volume thus a slightly higher comp ratio here is the diffrence between the two engines 96-00 EX (D16Y8) 127 hp @ 6,600 107lb-ft @ 5,500 Redline 7,200 rpm Bore X Stroke: 75mm x 90mm Disp: 1590cc CR: 9.6:1 In Valve Dia: 30.1mm Exh Valve Dia: 26.1mm Cam Lobe IN/EX: (mid)38.274mm/ 38.008mm 92-5 Si/Ex (D16Z6) 125 hp @ 6,600rpm 106lb-ft @ 5,200rpm Redline: 7,200 rpm Bore x Stroke: 75 X 90 mm Disp: 1590cc CR: 9.2:1 In Valve Dia: 30.1mm Exh Valve Dia: 26.1mm Cam Lobe IN/EX: (mid)38.107mm/ 38.008mm 0.4:1 diffrence just in the gasket and head, if you got it together my advice is just leave it alone, i would only ---- with it if you are taking it upart for a build anyway. Some people will argue the z6 will flow better i have seen no proff of this so i'll let the ricers duke this one out |
