Turbo compressor leak test question
I was checking for boost leaks today. I found out that when I cap the compressor outlet and apply air pressure to the turbo intake, it wont hold air. Is this supposed to be normal in a t3/t04e or on any turbos for that matter?
Lol, you have a lot of spare times.
it can leak from the joint between the backplate and compressor cover. a bit of silicone sealant could help but it'S never leaking bad because it's a very tight fit.
and mostly, it WILL leak through the shaft seal. It's just a piston ring. It's not air tight. You've certainly been bubbling air into the CHRA like crazy doing this.
