This guy down my rd has just attemted to do a hmt.
He didnt have enough $$ to buy all the parts , so wat he did was he bolted the t3 turbo on , and fitted the oil lines.
The car is a B16A civic.
BUT he hasnt hooked up any charge pipes = no boost .
Running standert ecu .. and vtec kiks in "naturally" it sounds quite insane.Will this do any harm / damage to the car or the enigine itself ? Untill hes got enuff $$ he will finish the car. cheers.

 

park that car now, im not even kidding.

running the turbo with no charge pipes will cause the turbo to overspool, possibly damaging and/or destroying the turbo.

 

yeah, the turbo, actually relies on the pressure in the pipes to slow down its speed in the higher revs. turbos rev unbelievable high compared to your motor, and they go even higher, and cause damage. it will obviously not hurt your motor, but you might ruin the turbo

 

not might ruin the turbo, absolutely will ruin the turbo

 

so there you have it, dont drive the car. if you still continue to drive, be sure to keep a video camera handy because i wnat to see/hear it when the turbo grenades on you

 

I drove for about 5 mins with my charge pipe disconnected
it seems to be fine.
but i woudl open the wastegate fully, whether its external or internal. just make sure its 100% open all the time.

 

I think it would be ok if you drive the car normal, Just dont rape the ---- out of it .

Its not my car btw , but the dude is crazy as hell he does rape it a bit, lol its quite funny im definately goin 2 post a video up on this wen that turbo goes !!
Yeh he does have the wastegate fully open , wat does that do / prevent btw.
Hes getting the evil *** looks from people.
Ps , The car seems 2 not be all that slow , ( not that its faster ) but i thought it wub be waaaay slower cuz of bak pressure etc..

 

I have a question, what if you have the charge pipes connected, but you just have the wastegate flapper fully open?? Oil lines and all installed, just with the wastegate flapper open?? Is it bad to run it like that if say, you were going to the tuner??

 

if there arent any chrage pipes hooked up, the car should feel like it did beofre you just bolted the turbo on, its bassically running n/a now, not turbo. if he rapes the car even with the wastegate fully opened, its gonna grenade on you.
