Re: turbo area SMOKING white?!?!

White smoke usually means coolant is burning, Is your turbo water cooled?

Re: turbo area SMOKING white?!?! HELP!!!

do you think the added oil raised the oil pressure in the turbo feed line causing it to leak from all the extra oil being shoved in?

if you put to much oil, it will def smoke because ur running overlly rich, if it doesnt stop, check your oil return line, it might b kinked and its building up to much pressure and passing straight through thte turbo seals, thats wat happened to mine, does it smoke at idle, at boost, or jus all the time?

Re: turbo area SMOKING white?!?! HELP!!!

Overly rich? huh? Anyway, oil does not burn white. 1.5 quarts too much shouldnt make it pour smoke. I have overfilled mine by a lot before and it never smoked. What does it smell like?

Rich usually refers to A/f ratio, but I get what you're saying.

ok if its a white smoke with a blue tint in it then your turbo is proly gone. cheack for shaft play and oil in your i/c pipe and intercooler

why are your coolint lines not hooked up. how long have you rain it with them not hooked up could have over heated the turbo and burnt the seals and internale parts just my 2 cents.

also what turbo is it

ok i finally got a chance to mess with my car, all the smoke is coming out of my dp and it does really slow down once the car is fully warmed up 8) i just bought a tapped oil pan (welded no leaks!) from mycrx. Im going to wait till that comes in then drain my oil, so once its back to 3 1/2 quarts the smoking should shop right..? oh and the smoke does have a little bit of a blueish tint to it

Re: turbo area SMOKING white?!?! HELP!!!

You dont have 10 minutes to drain a couple quarts? no need to drive it anywhere if your worried.

I finally find the plug, screw it back on to a nearly empty pan :-X i was so damn pissed and in a rush to clean up the oil i hit my head on the damn bumper/crossmenber area on the way out!! by far one of the worst days ive had....

lets just say i had a bad experience.. I cant work in the privacy of my own garage cus i dont have one :P so im just gona wait till my oil pan gets here, i HATE jacking my car up on the street because its pretty damn dangerous/uncomfortable(almost been hit numerous times) so i try to only do that when i really need to.

how?...running a water-cooled turbo without the coolant lines is pretty common practice, ive done it numerous times without a single problem

Kinda weird ----, but my buddy had a 91 probe gt (turbo), and it did the same damn thing. We used the wrong nipple for the oil filter, it was too short. Blew off one day, starved the turbo of oil. Damn thing didn't smoke blue though, it was white, so we thought a blown head gasket, but it had no symptoms. We replaced the turbo, and boom, went away. I'd replace the turbocharger, but I couldn't tell you why it happens.
