turbo 4AG (4AG-TE) MK1 MR2 conversion
Just ran across this message board- right up my alley!
I just completed a turbo conversion on a toyota 4AG motor. The engine lives in a MK1 MR2; as a result, everything needed to be done from scratch since no kit exists. (the HKS manifold only fits the AE86 corolla). Some specs: 4AG-ZE block, (sold off Supercharger parts), 8.0:1 C/R, large port head custom near-equal length manifold 2G Eclipse T25 Megasquirt EFI http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html Ford distributorless EDIS ignition controlled by Megajolt Lite Jr (my own design). * fuel and ignition fully programmable 440cc Supra 7MGTE injectors ford probe turbo intercooler 1G Eclipse BOV 255LPH Walbro Fuel pump Recently Dyno'd it- 215 HP, 200 ft/lbs torque at the wheels, 15PSI boost. we noticed the power getting choppy at the high end- turned out that my plug gap was too big. I should have more power after fixing my gap and doing a pull to 8000 instead of 7000 RPM. photos http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/engine/e...turbo_view.jpg http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/engine/engine_end_view.jpg http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/engine/e..._manifold2.jpg http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/engine/engine_end.jpg Megasquirt on top (fuel), Megajolt Lite Jr on bottom (ignition) note on-board MAP sensors. http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/engine_m...ll_closeup.jpg autocross trim. Exhaust now has a Dynomax where the straight section is- it weighs 15 lbs. http://picasso.org/misc/mr2/rear_3qu...cross_trim.jpg |
I am planning on doing a turbo build here in the next couple months and was wondering what problems, if any, did you have with this build. also what specs are/were you running? (i.e. psi, power figures) Love the car, and the build looks amazing.
