Turbo for 250cc motor
I'm looking to turbo a 250cc fourwheeler motor, its a 4 stroke out of a suzuki quadrunner 250
i'm thinking about going draw through carb system with a 34mm mikuni carb to keep it breathing easy what would abe a turbo small enough that i could get cheap used somewhere? i was thinking about using a turbo of a jetta TDI and cutting the exhaust housing from teh manifold and welding teh exhaust housing right to the manifold im gonna make.... would this turbo still be too big? |
Re: Turbo for 250cc motor
t25, small mitsu turbo, the'll all work. dont do a drawl through though. they suck. Modify the carb a little and do a blow through setup. A drawl through can ice the air/fuel mixture at outside temps of 50 degrees and under

Re: Turbo for 250cc motor
hmm.... i'll see if i can get my hands on a TDI or TD turbo off a jetta or golf.....
what modifications would you need to make to the carb to do a blow through set up, ive heard about having to enclose the whole turbo in a whole case so the whole turbo is under pressure |
Re: Turbo for 250cc motor
in the case of a quad (it has only one carb?) you could just run the pipe to it. Different carbs usually require different modifications. The float bowls are hollow and most can only take a few pounds of boost before they collaspe. a common technique is to fill them with foam. Im more familiar with v8 carbs as opposed to the motorcycles, so i dont know how much applies. You sometimes have to run a few vac/boost lines from the plenum to areas on the carb where it will leak fuel under boost i.e. throttle shaft, cold start valve, etc..
use a t25 off a 2g eclispe. I got one for sale if you want it. pm me |
