turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

hey guys... i own a civic and was planning on going turbo but now im gonna buy a new car a citroen c2 vtr and im troubled because this car has a 11.1 :1 compressinon ratio!! i want to build a low budget low boost turbo onthis car but i think its very risky to go turbo with this CR... is there any solution to this (and it should be cheap) im planning to use stock internals.... any way to lower compression ratio or can it be solved by just retarding timing?? i know this is a nooby question but im desperately in need of help :) any suggestions???

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

well a thicker headgasket usualy works, that will bring it down a tad. i'm not really sure what those cars are capable of because we dont have them here in the US.
i would think "DutchPug" might be more helpfull with this kinda car.
but there has been people who have turbo'd with a ratio like that. its all in the tunning ;)

i know about thicker head gasket solution but ive been told that it is not reliable... is this true and how much thicker can it handle??

as long as u have a good tuner and fuel, ur str8

tuning will be very picky, so that is crucial with high compression FI engines, but I would love to go that route one day!

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

you would have to go standalone to tune it properly at that high a compression.
Or use plate inbetween 2 head gaskets..like Dutchpug does....He can let them make them for you at a pretty good price...

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

high comp FI is where its at if you can get a good tune going, maybe using megasquirt n spark youd be more than happy. youd probably have to run race fuel to really get some decent boost out of it.

One bad tune and ... BOOM

Yups a head plate and two head gaskets works like a charm and is cheap ;D.

You can buy a head plate for your engine (TU5JP4) at http://www.dp-engineering.nl

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

good tuner + lots of race gas.

better off going high CR NA and a little bit of nitrous on the side. nitrous loves high CR.

an just a few pounds of boost will make a HUGE imporvement in power.
only 4-5 psi will do miracles with 11:1 !!!

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

having friends who have citroens my advice to you is DONT DO IT :o

but if you wanna as they say - its all about the engine mapping - i would n/a it or supercharge personally

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

i've thought of going NA but it's too much money for too low power gain
i think i need a good way of lowering compression rate then there wont be any problem with turboing i guess... well two head gaskets and a decompression plate seems to solve this problem but i still havent decided because im not sure about this plate's reliability... do you recommend this solution??

Re: turbo on 11.1 compression ratio

i've been driving for a long time with different engines with a decompression plate, never had any problems with it.

It is being used on vw's a lot too.

;D do it youll love it even if its only 5 psi. I got a 11.1 sbc 350 dialed in on 7psi an it runs out good.....
