the 1.8 eclipse motor is the single cam ---- motor for mitsu's if they claim they did it they are either a lying jew, or a dumbass for wasting thier time

I used to have a 93 eclipse 1.8l. sold it. bought AWD TSI. never looked back...except when my talon was broken(over 1/2 the time that I owned it). Seriously though, if 93 crank horsepower isnt enough, sell it to some dumb high school kid and buy something worth modding.

do you do anything besides making threads about can you turbo this or turbo that? First you got flamed about turboing a rotary and now this.

Well on that note I guess I have a question that needs answering too. I have a hot ---- 1987 Lebaron with a 1.3L Yugo GTi motor swap and I was wondering if I could boost it. I've heard that people have done it before but it was a lot of trouble.

if you turbo the 1.8 it will be more reliable than any pos 4g63 aka (worst motor ever made)

Re: Turbo 1.8 Eclipse?

So you're saying a motor that can handle 250whp if it's lucky is better in every way than a motor that can handle 400whp with ease? Now I'm well aware that the 4G63 is a pile of ----, but the 1.8 is worse at high hp levels. The 4G63 if nothing else is strong. Sure the 1.8's do fine at their stock 90 or so whp, but my guess is at 250whp they'd be just as unreliable as a 4G63 at 400.

Ok now you respond with how much of a kikeyjewnig I am and berate me for daring to "challenge" you. You're more predictable that greenwich mean time.

your statement may be true

but from my personal hands on experience i will tell you i would rather have a turbo 1.8 eclipse than a 4g63 any day of the week. everything is easier to work on, do, and understand on the 1.8 you can change a timming belt with out having to take the mount out and half the motor apart you can change a clutch in 2 hours. no ignighter crap, no coil pack problems. it literally as easy if not easier than working on a sohc civic.
