the trim
how to know the trim of my turbocharger ?
i asked that question before and i forget the equation sorry 4 that |
Re: the trim
square of the smallest diameter of the wheel, divided by the square of the largest diameter of the wheels, times 100.
on a compressor: inducer2 / major2 X100 on a turbine: exducer2 / major2 X100 The resulting value might be a bit off the reality. most off the times the measured trim is a bit LESS than the actual trim. |
Re: the trim
blaast do you know what the turbonetics super h trim equals out to in numbers? ive looked everywhere and couldnt find it
|
Re: the trim
H trim is 70 trim
|
Re: the trim
damn!! ok can you give me any background on that trim level. i have it on a ls non vtak
|
Re: the trim
well, it'S the biggest of all T04B'S
it's one notch larger than the v trim and one notch under the 60-1 It's good for 500 HP max but I like it for it's super good efficiency at low boost. it can almost hit 400 HP with only 8-10 psi!!! However, i have seen the H trim Surge quite a bit on too small engines. If your LS is stock, you should reduce it to S or V trim. or a T04E 40 or 46 |
Re: the trim
thanks man i appreciate that info!! yea its bone stock internals, im running 7 right now and it kicks pretty good but not anywhere close to 400, probably more like 210+, yea bigger engine i could see that, but damn the torque on this monster is crazy, doesnt stop pulling at all, wish i could use the rest its got, but then i would have to go vtak, im shooting to run 10psi which from what ive been told should be around 240-250 to the wheels...thanks again

Re: the trim
look because my english is not very good is the major is the same as exducer?
|
Re: the trim
No, major is not necessarily the same as the exducer.
the LARGER diameter of the wheel is always the "MAJOR" (compressor and turbine) on the compressor side, the smaller diameter is called INDUCER on the turbine side, the smaller diameter is called EXDUCER (lots of people call the smaller diameter of any wheel the inducer but they are wrong. a turbine wheel's smaller diameter doesn'T induce much...it'S the exit of the wheel. The exducer. :S it's to avoid this confusion that Garrett introduced the term "MAJOR" for the larger diameter of a wheel.) |
Re: the trim
Just a question to make sure I undertand.
When you say induce, do you mean the effect created by the compressor wheel that more or less brings the air in through the compressor inlet? |
