Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph **UPDATED PICS**
D15b2 Block that sat in the rain for years with rusted cylinder walls. Free.
Dirty ass Y7 head. Free. Used oem Hg. Free. Hf mani with adaptor plate. Holset h1c = Overkill. 175 bucks well spent. 7 psi Homemade front bumper side exit exhaust/downpipe. Free. 20 bugs in flux wire. Prelude 290's Free. 96 Cx trans with the horrible 3.7 Fd. = Free, and it sucks ass. 2.3 13.9 104.89. 83 mph in 2nd gear ! Highway superstar. Totally untuned and totally running like ass and pig rich. Reason for the horrible 60 ft is my launch control is set at 4500, if I dump clutch I nearly stall. So Im riding the clutch nearly all of 1st gear so it doesnt bog down. Damn holset. |

Re: Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph
HMT at it's best.
What size exhaust wheel on the H1C? And did you at least hone the cyl walls? :P |
Re: Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph
I dont know what size exhaust wheel it is.
All I know is its a v band and I just welded a 2 bolt flange to the turbo instead of using the v band. Hone the cyl walls ? BALLS. I just free'd up the block with a huge breaker bar on the crank pulled a BFH. I left Honda penetrating oil on the cylider walls for days though. Ive got rx7 550's, I just need a basemap to run them on so I can get it tuned. Im gonna leave the boost where it is so I dont blow the thing up. Need it to last till next spring. Thanks for the feedback, The biggest restriction is the cx trans. And btw 7 psi @ 5500-6000 in 3rd gear lol. |
Re: Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph
Must be a 21cm^2 housing then.
I'm sure the trans is holding you back as well. What kind of clutch are you running in it? I assume something used and abused, possibly left in a shed/outside for a few months, as is the theme of this build. |
Re: Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph
Act 4 puck unsprung. Almost brand new. Bought it for another build that failed.
Stock PP and Fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel. Flywheel has some scoring. Not too bad. The 2 step at 4500 is the killer. Sucks ass. Yea the cx trans is horrible 125 in 3rd gear. Should be getting a free dx trans in next week. Good enough for now. |

Re: Track day on a Budget. 104.89 Mph
Nah just street tires.
Launching full throttle off the 2 step would leave me with a near stall. So Im just riding the clutch till 7k to keep the rpm up. Best 60 ft of the night was a 2.29. Horrible. All my old setups had decent low 2.1's |

Ahh, dont get me pissed off.
Ok now im pissed off. Z1 block was my best setup ever. It never blew, but it fried the rings in #4. Thats what I THOUGHT at least. So I ordered some rings for it and I bought a flex hone. Pulled the block apart and found #4 ringlands shot. But the hone came out sweet. I should be buying a new oem piston from Honda next week. 38 bucks lol. Then ill put it all back together and probably run 12 psi on it. No rush though. |
