my 2 cents,

im concerned with there being enough pressure in the exhaust to spool the turbo efficiently.. gas laws.. less volume of gas going out the muffler than out the engine block. the oil lines are going to be a big ------- problem, and there will probably be a pretty big pressure drop by the time it gets to the throttle body, on my car, the MAF has to go before the turbo, and that would be hell if it was the same for yours, other than that, go for it,

a lot of people didnt think i would get my car boosted, but it happened

okay, arguing on HMT is almost as bad as on youtube.... come on guys.

I mounted a TD05 turbo from a Starion IN the bed of my beater Tacoma truck.

The turbo was free and I spent less than $75 on clamps, fittings, and copper A/C tubing for the oil feed and gravity drain(no oil scavenge pump was used). Drove perfectly with the factory internal WG at 6-7 PSI.

With the toolbox mounted, you would never know it was there.

And under the hood still appeared relatively stock...because it was

It spooled amazingly quick and was really a fun daily driver. Those who say rear-mounts won't work obviously haven't tried it. And to the OP,...if you still have your beater truck...you've just gotta try this. It only took like 4 nites after work with scrap exhaust piping ,a chop saw, and a MIG welder

I don't think anyone said they don't work, they are just terribly inefficient.

go for it. turbo it. dont worry about what negative stuff other have to say. rear mount may not be the best for performance, but hey you have a turbo truck.
Zip set up is nie for a low budget build and great way to hide it all.
any progress on it at all?

Well, I swapped out the turbo for a TD06G(? whatever came stock on Scyclones) and ran a string of 12.0's with 12.006@116.6 being my best time thus far. Remember this is on a bone stock 2RZ Tacoma truck motor with stock engine management. I'm running 440cc injectors and 30% meth blend and peaking at around 22psi.
I've since swapped that turbo out for a Holset HE341 and on the street on a third gear pull have reached 30.2psi( 2.06 bar ). Waiting for the weather to clear up so I can take it to the track for some numbers

I swapped everything over to a better looking truck.
Here's a pic of the TD06 set up.

And when I was setting up the Holset. It doesn't really fit under the toolbox very well anymore

That's pretty cool, Zip!
Are you just running an FMU? I love how cheap it was for you lol

No FMU. Fuel system consists of a MKIV Supra FPR. I've never checked what difference it may have made..my buddy just gave it to me when I was initially putting things together. It mounts straight up to the stock Taco rail. Also have a 255lph Walbro in the tank and DSM 440 injectors (which are a bit small..but they're cheap). And the Snow Performance WI which is prolly keeping this thing together.
