Hello, I have a small IC with an odd shape. From a probe or an MX6 I think. Does anyone have any thoughts on what would happen if I cut a hole in the hood, mounted a scoop, and mounted the IC inline from the turbo to the intake manifold? Less distance to travel, less lag, right? I don't care if it would look ghetto.

Well that would work if you can still close your hood... The Subaru WRX has that type of intercooler setup. Just make sure that you mount a scoop that will bring in enough air to direct it over the intercooler.

 

More work than its worth... Just front mount the damn thing.

 

what people are saying is, they didnt think of the idea, so its stupid. go ahead. If RX7 turbos and WRX use top mount, im sure its a good idea.

 

IMO having an intercooler sitting above the engine is ------- retarded. It just soaks up all the heat. Put the IC in the front.

 

i say go for it if you want to cut up your hood. I have a fucked up hood already so thats what i was planning on doing. but i like to be different(gotta sentra instead of a civic) i could care less what other people are doing except to learn from each others mistakes thats why we are here right, not to call each other ideas gay. whats up wit dat ghetto ur name is ghettoturbo but cutting a hole in the hood is homo!?!wtf

sounds like a lot more trouble than it's worth, wouldn't cool well at all. wrx's have top mounts b/c with their flat engines it fits right in there
