Default too far gone?

First off...i know this is going to be hard to diagnose without actually seeing the turbo in person. But i thought maybe you could help me. I am able to get a garrett t3 true super 60 for free to nothing, the only thing is it will need a rebuild. That question is whether it is past the point of being rebuilt. the seals leak oil and there is pretty decent side to side shaft play, but none in and out. Overall it has seen it's better days. Will a rebuild on this turbo make it "new" again or do you think in it's condition it would just be a waste to invest money into it. thanks guys...

I think as long as there's no forward or back shaft play and the blades are all fine it would be worth the rebuild. But im a tinker'r so i do it if it wasn't worth it too for the experience

yeah the blades are fine and all. It's just that im in school still and don't really have the money to just see if a rebuild will work. I would rather sell it to some ricer on ebay and invest the money into a turbo i know is going to be in good condition.

Alot of places that rebuild turbos are confident that they can make them good as new as long as the shaft and fins are still straight and hte bearing are like cook to the CHRA. Rebuilds can start at $300+ but I would recommend http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/ they will repalce all internals and balance it and ship it back to you all for about $350. If it still looks Ok, I would say rebuild.

To me, this sounds more like I good brake cleaner spray I could do in the garage.

No, seriously. I looked over it and where does it say REPLACEMENT of ANYTHING? Am I missing the addition of new seals and what not? Just seems like they are cleaning it. Not ******* Blaast by any means. Really good price if it's a TRUE rebuild.
